Story and photos submitted by Lisa Portillo.

Our love story started 2 years ago when I met Dusti Rose (then known as Kyla) at Muttville.

I took her out for a walk…this old vision impaired dog with a funny walk. I fell in love during our walk and adopted her that day.

She has brought so much love & lessons into my life, she teaches me every day how to live life to the fullest, and how to overcome obstacles with dignity and joy. She has since gone blind, but does not let that get in the way of bossing other dogs around, or finding pure joy in her world: walks to check her “pee mail”, going to dog park, visiting her doggie friends, going to doggie day care, rides in the car, lounging with her cat…. She just relishes life and that is so inspirational!!

I may not get as much time with her since she’s a senior, but she is so wise and deserving that there’s no way I could’ve passed her up for a younger dog.

Thanks for loving the senior dogs as much as I do!
